Penelope Trunk has a pretty interesting post on how taking time off to have kids actually won't hurt your career prospects, contrary to popular opinion. Her primary point is that the looming worker shortage is going to make access to...

Is It Time to Break Up With Your Boss?

It's been my experience that many women hold on to bad relationships for far longer than they should--and holding on to a bad boss is no exception. Most of us know when to walk out on an abusive boss, but...

Envisioning Your Future

At our career retreat last month, we did a lot of work with visuals. There's something about working with pictures that unleashes ideas and insights that aren't available to our verbal brains, in part because the "Judge" who tells us...

Preparing for your New Year

Beyond the Glass Ceiling Members Invited to Women Rule DC! Monthly Meetups!

Hi ladies, it's been awhile since we've gotten together after our fabulous career retreat with Michele Martin. I'm an organizer for the Women Rule DC! Meetup with a number of women who are just like us - socially responsible with dynamic personalities and powerful visions for their futures. I invite you to join this group so I can just send one big invite out to everyone at once. Makes it a little easier to organize! Let's continue to meet monthly in DC/MD/VA and support each other in our careers.

If you want to learn how to set up an e-portfolio using free tools, I'll be running two webinars in the next month. The first one is a basic session that will introduce the basic principles of setting up a portfolio and show you a couple of free online tools to use to set up your portfolio. The second will be a little more advanced, showing you how to tell great stories with your online portfolio. You can get more info on the webinars here.

We all had a bunch of great answers to the first question--most not involving work. My particul… Continue
